Klas Östergren (b. 1955) is one of Sweden’s main authors. Since his debut in the mid seventies he has published fourteen novels, written several TV-series and translated plays, especially by Ibsen and Ayckbourne. In 1980 he made his breakthrough with the novel Gentlemen. In 2014 the major motion picture based on the novel and directed by Mikael Marcimain opened in Cinemas. It was nominated to more awards than any other film in the history of the Swedish award Guldbaggen. In December 2014 Klas Östergren became one of the members of the Swedish Academy.
